This Month: Nourish · Blue Zones Edition
A letter from Shanae
Bloom family,
Every month this letter takes one of our four pillars and holds it up to the light. This month is NOURISH, and the timing could not be more perfect, because I have news.
Oasis is officially working toward becoming a recognized Blue Zones Project participating organization, right here in Palm Springs.
If Blue Zones is new to you, here is the short version. Researchers spent decades studying the places on Earth where people live the longest, healthiest lives: Okinawa in Japan, Sardinia in Italy, Ikaria in Greece, Nicoya in Costa Rica, and Loma Linda, California. They call them blue zones, and Blue Zones Project brings what those places teach us to whole cities. Palm Springs is one of them.
And here is what made me smile when I sat down with their Blueprint. The women in those communities are not counting macros or fearing food. They eat real things, mostly plants. They move because life asks them to. They belong to each other. They know their purpose. Real food. Natural movement. Deep connection. Purpose.
Nourish. Restore. Strengthen. Connect.
We did not have to change a single thing about the Midlife Bloom Method to walk this path. We have been living Blue Zones principles all along. Now we are making it official: I have signed the Blue Zones Personal Pledge, and our Cohort 1 graduates are signing theirs now. Our programs are being documented, and this partnership is only beginning.
Stay close. This story has chapters coming that I cannot wait to tell you.
You are not declining. You are blooming.
With warmth, Shanae

The NOURISH Corner
Eat like the world's longest-lived women
The blue zones share a way of eating that lines up beautifully with what midlife hormones need. Three principles to borrow this month:
Make beans your quiet staple. Every blue zone eats beans nearly every day: black beans in Nicoya, lentils in Ikaria, soybeans in Okinawa. For us, beans deliver steady protein, fiber that supports estrogen metabolism, and blood sugar stability, which means fewer energy crashes and calmer sleep. One cup a day is the blue zones benchmark. Start with half.
Practice the 80 percent rule. Okinawans say "hara hachi bu" before meals: eat until you are 80 percent full, then stop. In midlife, when our metabolism is renegotiating its terms, this one habit does more than most diets, and it requires zero special groceries. Put the fork down while you could still eat a little more. Wait ten minutes. Notice you are satisfied.
Front-load your plants. Blue zones plates are 90 to 95 percent plants, with vegetables leading. For hormone health, aim for color at every meal: leafy greens for magnesium (your sleep mineral), cruciferous vegetables for estrogen processing, and something orange for the skin and eyes. Meat shows up in blue zones the way dessert shows up at a birthday: celebrated, occasional, small.

This Month's Simple Swap
Replace one meat-centered dinner each week with a bean-centered one. A pot of white bean and rosemary soup counts. So does a black bean bowl. Your hormones, your sleep, and the world's longest-lived women all approve.

Blooming Now
Cohort 2 begins September 15
Twelve seats. Six weeks. All four pillars, walked together with women who get it.
Cohort 1 changed the women who walked through it, and I watched it happen week by week. Cohort 2 begins Tuesday, September 15, and enrollment is open now at $497. If this is your season, do not wait on this one, because seats are going.

Community Bloom
Founding pledges from our Cohort 1 graduates
To our Cohort 1 graduates, Yolanda, Maria, Tahema, and Elaine: thank you for signing your Blue Zones Personal Pledges as founding members of this journey. You were first into the Method, and you are first into this chapter too. That is what blooming in community looks like.
Want to be featured in a future Community Bloom? Reply to this email and tell me what you are blooming into. I read every reply myself.

Mark Your Calendar
Something special is coming to Palm Springs
Something special is coming to Palm Springs on Sunday, October 18, and it belongs to every woman reading this. That is all I can say for now, except this: keep the afternoon open, and stay close to your inbox.

One Last Thing
Pass this on.
If this letter helped you, forward it to one woman who needs it. That is how this community grows: one woman telling another the thing nobody told her.
You are not declining. You are blooming.
